Whether you are looking to start an exercise program or are already participating in regular physical activity, it is important to remember that there is a difference between good physical fitness and overworking or overstressing your body. A good physical fitness program will allow your body sufficient time to recover and prepare for the activities you will be participating in.

Even star athletes need time for their bodies to recover from intense physical activity. If you are participating in a program that is too intense for your body and does not allow ample time for your body to repair and get ready for more activity, you may not be practicing good physical fitness. For most people, exercising for a half an hour to an hour a day is more than sufficient to maintain weight, proper body function, and physical fitness. If you are exercising or pushing your body for more than this, you may want to reconsider for physical fitness goals. If you feel that this level of activity is appropriate, you may still want to consult a personal trainer or other professional to make sure that you are not doing any damager to your body.

A good physical fitness program often will combine aerobic activities with weight bearing activities. This gets you the cardiovascular exercise you need and helps you build lean muscles. Increased muscle mass will help you burn more calories, avoid injury, and look more toned and strong. Cardiovascular exercise will help boost your energy and increase your overall health and well being.
